A person was killed in a residential fire in California after fireworks exploded in a garage on the eve of July 4, police said.
The emergency teams responded on Thursday at noon to a fire in the house in Simi Valley, located in Ventura County in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area.

Explosions were reported within the garage, according to the police.
“It was determined that the explosions were fireworks, which resulted in the death of a person,” said Simi Valley Police Department in a statement. “The fire spread from the garage to the attic and entered the house.”

The police did not publish any details about the victim.
The authorities urged people to avoid the area while firefighters worked to turn off the fire.
The incident remains under investigation.
Thomas Kudlick, who lives on the other side of the street of the residence, told ABC Los Angeles station Kabc He left his house after hearing a “great explosion.”
“I could see that the garage had collapsed,” he told the station. “In just a few minutes, there were more explosions and more smoke and fire.”
