At least five people were shot, one fatally, on early Sunday when a shooting broke out between two groups of people in a large outdoor meeting in Danville, Virginia, police said.

The shooting occurred around 1:30 am in private property in the city near the North Carolina border, said Danville Police Department in a statement.

The officers responded after receiving reports from multiple shots, authorities said.

According to the Police, five people were shot, fatally, when shots broke out, on June 1, 2025, between groups in a large outdoor meeting in Danville, Virginia.

Upon arrival, the officers found a man who suffered a gunshot wound at the top of the body and sitting alone in a Chrysler sedan that was parked in the middle of a road, according to the police statement. The man, identified by the Jay’shaun Tiejae White police, White of Hurt, Virginia, was declared dead on the scene, authorities said.

A man who believes he was driving to Chrysler when the shooting exploded was discovered in an adjacent street that also suffered from a gunshot, the police said, adding that he was taken by ambulance to the Sovah Health Hospital in Danville. Your condition was not available immediately.

Three other shooting victims, two adult men and a 19 -year -old woman, later appeared in private vehicles in Sovah Health and were treated for their wounds, police said.

The three men injured in the shooting remained hospitalized until Sunday afternoon, according to the police statement.

“The initial investigation into this incident revealed that there was a great outdoor meeting on a property located just at the intersection of Carver Drive and Cheyenne Drive and that shots were exchanged between the Chrysler and other people at the meeting,” according to the Danville Police Department statement.

No arrests were announced in the shooting. The Danville Police Department asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact the detectives immediately.
