The Democrats in the Judicial Committee of the Senate are pressing for an investigation into the senior official of the Department of Justice, Ed Martin, about his declared plans to “embarrass” the political opponents of President Donald Trump, whom he cannot criminally collect, as well as a large number of other political issues that Martin has publicly promised to continue in his new position.

A spokesman for the Department of Justice confirmed that the department received the letter, but refused to make more comments.

Martin’s controversial mandate as the United States interim prosecutor for Washington, DC, in the first months of Trump’s presidency pushed the office to agitation and took several Senate Republicans to publicly declare that they would not support their permanent confirmation on paper.
But once the White House announced that they were taking the nomination of Martin, Trump said Martin would be appointed for several main positions that work at the headquarters of the Department of Justice, which serves as associated attached attorney general, the forgiveness lawyer of the United States and director of the so -called “weapons work group”.

At a press conference announcing his departure from the DCU lawyer’s office, Martin confirmed that he planned to launch a last -minute pardy investigation issued by former President Joe Biden just before leaving office, and suggested that the officials who could not charge would be publicly “ashamed.”
“There are some really bad actors, some people who did some really bad things to the American people,” Martin said. “And if they can be charged, we will charge them. But if they cannot be charged, we will name them … and in a culture that respects shame, they must be ashamed. And that is a fact. Things work. And that’s how I think work works.”
The approach would conflict directly with lDepartment of Justice Policy That prohibits prosecutors from appointing or belittling the people who are not intended to criminally accuse.
When Abc News asked him about that policy during the press conference, Martin said that “he would have to look at which one the disposition refers, to see, we want to square ourselves to do things correctly.”
The Senate Democrats letter said Martin’s statements “are a shameless admission that Martin plans to systematically violate the prohibition of the Justice Manual on extrajudicial statements by shameing the unloaded parties for partisanship reasons.
