New York governor Kathy Hochul shared a warning to New York residents in Tioga and Brome counties on Sunday night while heavy rains and floods threaten the region.
“The counties of Tioga and Broome are currently under a dangerous warning of sudden flooding,” Hochul wrote, adding that more storms are expected to arrive on Sunday night.
The National Meteorological Service said that a sudden flood warning will be in force until 11:30 pm for the Newark Valley region.

Between 3 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen, according to the agency, which added that the expected rain rate from 1 to 2 inches per hour will occur on Sunday night.
According to the NWS, they are also possible amounts of additional rain from 1 to 2 inches in the surrounding areas.
