6 dead in accident in the Colorado dairy farm: Fire Chief

Six people died in an accident in a dairy farm in Colorado, authorities said.

The Fire teams were sent to a dairy farm in Weld County on Wednesday night for a “confined space rescue,” said the Chief of the Fire District of Southeast Weld, Tom Beach, in a statement.

“The teams responded and took the appropriate precautions to enter the confined space to perform rescue operations,” Beach said in a statement on Thursday. “Unfortunately, the district staff recovered six people killed by space.”

The Weld Southeast Southeast Fire District did not publish details about the incident.

The dairy farm is located in Keenesburg, in a rural area to about 45 miles northeast of Denver.

The Weld County Sheriff’s office said it is not believed that there is any criminal element.

The Occupational Health and Safety Administration said that it has opened an investigation into the incident, which will take up to six months to complete. Additional information will not be published during that time, he said.

“Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the workers who lost their lives in the dairy farm in Keenesburg, Colorado,” said a spokesman for OSHA in a statement.

The dairy producers of America said the “tragic accident” occurred in one of its member farms.

“We are deeply sad for this incident, and our thoughts and the most sincere condolences are with the friends and families of the deceased,” the organization said in a statement. “At this early stage, we have no more details.”
