The curfew in a part of the center of Los Angeles will remain in force on Saturday night, since multiple protests are expected in the city, said Mayor Bass.

“Hundreds of additional personnel are mobilized and positioned proactively to keep safe people and protect property,” he said.

She said Friday’s protests were peaceful with very few arrests.

“We have zero tolerance for anyone who damages the property or puts the officers or the people at risk,” he emphasized the bass, pleading: “Please do not give the administration an excuse to intervene. Let us make sure to show the world the best of Los Angeles and our country.”

The LAPD chief Jim McDonnell added: “If you are here in Los Angeles today to make your voice be heard through peaceful manifestations, we are here to protect you. But if you come with the intention of committing crimes, damage the property or damage others, including our officers, they will be arrested … we are asking all those who plan to participate in today’s events to make it peaceful and respectful.”

Since June 7, the LAPD said he has made 523 arrests related to protest activity.
