President Donald Trump will forgive the Stars of reality shows Todd and Julie Chrisley, according to a video published by Trump’s communications advisor, Margo Martin, in X. The couple was sentenced to prison for tax evasion and bank fraud.
According to the video, Trump called Savannah Chrisley, the 27 -year -old daughter of the couple, to share the news that her parents were being forgiven and that they would soon be released from the prison.
Savannah Chrisley appealed to the Trump administration for the pardons of his parents and spoke at the Republican National Convention of 2024.
The couple, which became famous for their “Chrisley Knows Best” program, was sentenced in November 2022 to 19 years of prison for charges that include tax fraud and evasion. The couple was also ordered to pay $ 17.8 million in restitution.
Asked by ABC News if the White House could provide background information about the pardons, the main press deputy director, Harrison Fields, did not provide any detail behind the pardons and echoed Trump’s comments in the video that the couple was unjustly treated.
“The president always pleases to give the Americans well deserves a second chance, especially those who have been unjustly attacked and too processed by an unfair justice system,” Fields said in a statement to ABC News. “President Trump called Savannah and his brother from the Oval office to personally inform them that he would be forgiving his parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, whose prayers were too hard.”
“Chrisley knows better” he premiered in 2014 and followed the luxurious lifestyle of the rich real estate developer Todd Chrisley and his family.
The charges against the Chrisley are derived from the activity that occurred at least as soon as 2007, when the couple allegedly provided false information to banks and banking states manufactured by requesting and receiving millions of dollars in loans, according to the office of the United States lawyer. In 2014, two years after the alleged bank fraud scheme ended, the couple is accused of manufacturing bank extracts and a credit report that “had been cut and stuck physically or stuck when requesting and obtaining a lease contract for a home in California.”
In their memorandum of sentence, prosecutors said the Chrisley had involved in a “fifteen -year fraud wave.”
“After defrauding the community banks of dozens of millions of dollars, they hid millions of dollars from the IRS, all while they went to television to boast of how much they spend on designer clothes,” said the memorandum. “And when they learned that they were under investigation for those crimes, they involved their own family and friends to obstruct justice.”
In a telephone interview with ABC News on Tuesday, Savannah Chrisley told ABC News that Trump’s call came out “totally out of nowhere.”
“I had come to a place where I had lost hope, and I felt that nothing was in my favor,” he said. “And then I received the call.”
Savannah Chrisley said he plans to pick up his parents as early as Tuesday night or “the first” on Wednesday.
He also reported to inform his mother on the phone of forgiveness.
“Just sobbing, hysterically,” said Savannah Chrisley about his mother’s reaction when he heard the news.
Chrisley said she was “eternally grateful [Trump’s “pardon czar”] Alice Johnson and the president and his entire team. “
“It was just a shock, and the president was very friendly and loving. It is the reason why my family is being together again,” Chrisley said. “I have always supported him already his administration, and I will continue supporting them and fighting for them.”
